The Fight Professor Back To Canada

[19 Oct 2007] — Friday, October 19th marked the commentating debut of Stephen Quadros, The Fight Professor with Canadian mixed martial arts organization, Hardcore Championship Fighting for their "Title Wave" extravaganza. Mr. Quadros once again was teamed up with play-by-play ace Mauro Ranallo (Quadros and Ranallo also work on the ShoXC events for SHOWTIME).

"Mauro and I have unbelievable chemistry and I was excited about coming back to Canada and working with him in his home country! HCF (Hardcore Championship Fighting) is making moves, like signing Rogerio 'Minotoro' Nogueira and Renato 'Babalu' Sobral for future appearances. The main event for Friday's 'Title Wave' show featured Aleksander Emelianenko, one of the world's most dangerous heavyweights. Plus there was an added treat for me: an old friend of mine, Aleksander's brother Fedor Emelianenko, was in attendance at the show!" said color commentator/analyst Stephen Quadros.

Hardcore Championship Fighting is aired all over Canada on The Score television network.

Quadros Returns To Hawaii

[15 Sept 2007] — On Saturday, September 15th Stephen Quadros, The Fight Professor, joined the commentary team on Showtime's live broadcast of Elite Xtreme Combat's "Uprising", a mixed martial arts extravaganza that included a title fight between Murilo "Ninja" Rua and "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler. Also on the card were Jake Shields versus Renato "Charuto" Verissimo, Nick Diaz, Gina Carano and more.

And if that wasn't enough, this show was the first time Hawaii's two major fight promotions, Icon Sport and Rumble On The Rock, worked together!

"I am really excited about this! It's the first time I have been to Hawaii in over two years, when I was working alongside my dear departed friend Ryan Bennett on Rumble On The Rock!" says SHOWTIME color commentator/analyst Stephen Quadros.

[27 July 2007] — On Friday, July 27th, Stephen Quadros made his debut as color commentator/analyst on Showtime's new mixed martial arts program ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series. Working with "The Fight Professor" on these broadcasts is play-by-play ace Mauro Ranallo (The Fight Network). Mr. Quadros will also be handling the post fight interviews.

[29 July 2006] Stephen Quadros once again hosted Black Belt magazine's prestigious Hall Of Fame Awards at the Long Beach Convention Center on Friday, July 28th, 2006.

The Hall Of Fame Awards was part of Black Belt's 2nd Annual Festival Of Martial Arts, which was held on July 28th, 29th & 30th. Among the Hall Of Fame inductees was Matt Hughes (for NHB Fighter Of The Year).

Farewell To A Friend: Ryan Bennett R.I.P.

[4 June 2006] The world of sports, and specifically mixed martial arts, suffered a tremendous loss on Wednesday, May 31st when MMA Weekly founder Ryan Bennett was killed in an auto accident.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to those closest to him and pray for the speedy recovery of his lovely wife and children who were seriously injured in the crash.

My heart is heavy with sadness about the passing of this kind and giving man. Ryan was a great friend of mine and I will miss him terribly.

Quadros Featured On Showtime/WFA Special

[7 July 2006] The World Fighting Alliance continues to make noise with the signing of a deal with Showtime to air a 30 minute pre-fight special countdown show in promotion of it's mammoth "WFA: King Of The Streets" mixed martial arts event.

The countdown show featured the four main event fighters: Bas "El Guapo" Rutten, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Matt "The Law" Lindland, and Kimo, in addition to interviews and predictions by experts in the mixed martial arts world including "The Fight Professor," Stephen Quadros.

Countdown To WFA: King of the Streets was broadcast on Showtime in the weeks leading up to the live pay-per-view event on July 22nd at The Forum in Los Angeles.

Cage Rage Debuts At Wembley Arena

IFL Legends Championship Finals A Success

Quadros Named Commentator For IFL

[8 Apr 2006] The International Fight League (IFL) will make it's debut with the "Legends Championship 2006" on Saturday, April 29th at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The event will be aired in two parts on Fox Sports Net on May 21st and then May 28th.

The IFL is the world's first mixed martial arts league and has acquired 4 legends in the sport as it's first coaches: Bas Rutten, Renzo Gracie, Pat Miletich, and Maurice Smith.

Cage Rage 16: Silva Impresses

[23 Apr 2006] "Anderson Silva never fails to impress!" says Cage Rage commentator Stephen Quadros.

"Cage Rage 16: Critical Condition had to be the best KO of Silva's career, a reverse forward elbow right on the chin of the ultra experienced Tont Fryklund (USA). I have never seen that move in an MMA match, only in the film Ong Bak, hahaha."

Critical Condition is the final Cage Rage show at the Wembley Conference Centre. WEC And Quadros Back On HDNet

[17 Mar 2006] World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) aired part one of their, "Undisputed" event, live on HDNet Friday, March 17th.

The show featured two world title matches that saw both champions fall. WEC lightweight champion Gabe "Godzilla" Ruediger lost his title to Hermes Franca by referee stoppage and WEC featherweight title holder Cole "Apache Kid" Escovedo was TKO'd by Urijah "California Kid" Faber.

The WEC commentating team once again included "The Fight Professor", Stephen Quadros (IFL, PRIDE, K-1, Cage Rage) doing the color commentary and Ryan Bennett (MMA Weekly, K-1, ROTR, UFC) doing the play-by-play along with HDNet's own Ron Kruck handling the post fight interviews. WEC color commentator Jeff Blatnick (Olympic wrestling gold medalist, UFC) is away on assignment and will be returning to the broadcast booth on the next show.

[29 July 2005] — Stephen Quadros hosted Black Belt magazine's prestigious Hall Of Fame Awards at Universal Studios on Friday, July 29, 2005.

'The Fight Professor' sums things up like this:

"I got to hang out with a bunch of people, including new UFC hotshot Forrest Griffin, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Gene LeBell, Cung Le and Bob Wall. I was also fortunate to take a Krav Maga seminar from my pals Darren Levine and Amir Perets. But hosting the Black Belt Hall Of Fame Awards on Friday night was a special treat. The love and unity in that room was pretty darn special! Fedor Emelianenko was inducted for 'NHB Fighter Of The Year' and Ernesto Hoost for 'Full Contact Fighter Of The Year'!"

The Hall Of Fame Awards was part of Black Belt's 1st Annual Festival Of Martial Arts, also at Universal on July 29th, 30th & 31st.

Freedom Fight 2005 and The Fight Professor

[25 July 2005] Freedom Fight 2005 took mixed martial arts to a new level in Canada. The event featured two teams of MMA fighters, lead by Tito Ortiz (USA) and "Big Daddy" Gary Goodridge (Canada), who went head to head at the Robert Guertin Arena in Gatineau, Quebec on Saturday, July 9, 2005. [2 July 2005] Cage Rage 12: The Real Deal once again featured some of the world's best mixed martial arts fighters. "The Fight Professor" Stephen Quadros again called the action at the show.

Stephen Quadros At Rumble On The Rock

[10 May 2005] International commentator Stephen Quadros: 'The Fight Professor' just worked with the broadcast team of the Rumble On The Rock mixed arts promotion.

"I had never been to Hawaii and I can safely say that it is every bit as beautiful as people claim! I was hired to come over and provide the pre-show interviews and do commentary with my pal Ryan Bennett (Quadros and Bennett also work together on WEC). It was a lot of fun, a sellout with about 8,000 people live! The show featured 'Tank' Abbott knocking out Wesley 'Cabbage' Correira! Also victorious on the card were Vitor 'Shaolin' Ribeiro, Kimo and Renato 'Charuto' Verissimo."

Rumble On The Rock 7 was held at the Neal Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday, May 7th, 2005.

 

Quadros Back In The UK For Cage Rage 11

[30 Apr 2005] — Cage Rage 11 "Face Off" showed the growing UK event flexing it's muscles once again.

Cage Rage commentator Stephen Quadros: 'The Fight Professor' puts it like this, "Anderson Silva (Brazil) defended his Cage Rage middleweight title with a TKO over the always tough Jorge 'El Conquistador' Rivera (USA). Silva is going to be VERY hard to beat at 185 pounds. 'Face Off' also featured Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos and Curtis 'Red Nose' Stout, who both notched up big KO wins. I was able to interview Wanderlei 'The Ax Murderer' Silva, 'Lightning' Lee Murray and Ian 'The Machine' Freeman live in the cage during the show. Murray and Freeman later joined us in the broadcast booth, where they commentated on one fight each. I can hardly wait till the July 2nd show!"

The Fight Professor In London For Cage Rage

[1 Mar 2005] Cage Rage 10 "Deliverance" marked the UK live commentating debut of "The Fight Professor" Stephen Quadros.

"Cage Rage has been having important international matches for a while now, including Anderson Silva versus Lee Murray. 'Deliverence' showcased tough international competitors like Renato 'Babalu' Sobral (Brazil/Gracie Barra), Sol 'Zero Tolerance' Gilbert (UK), Jorge 'El Conquistador' Rivera (USA), and Mark 'The Wizard' Weir (UK). PRIDE middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva (Brazil/Chute Boxe) was there cornering Evangelista 'Cyborg' Santos as well as teaching a seminar on the day of the event. I handled all the pre and post-fight interviews as well as commentating for the show. I am very excited about going back to London in April for Cage Rage 11!" states Mr. Quadros.

APEX "Genesis" On Canadian Pay Per View Feb. 26th

20 Feb 2005] —On February 26th, 2005 at 9:00 PM EST, the debut event of APEX Championship Fighting, titled "Genesis", aired all across Canada. The pay per view broadcast was available on:

APEX "Genesis" was hosted by "The Fight Professor" Stephen Quadros, who was joined in the broadcast booth by UFC hotshot Frank Trigg and Canadian MMA icon "Showdown" Joe Ferraro, with JT McCarthy handling the backstage interviews.

The show featured Ivan Menjivar, who fought in the main event against Milwaukee tough guy Ryan Ackerman, UFC Bad Boy Wes "The Project" Sims in the "Battle of Giants" against Montrealer Ricardeau Francois and Tony "The Freak" Fryklund returning to Montreal to face a dangerous Chris Myers.

APEX also had an international who's who of MMA stars on hand as Matt Lindland, Tim Sylvia, Mark Coleman, David Loiseau and Georges St-Pierre all enjoyed the action.

WEC: Heavyweight Explosion

[22 Jan 2005] — With "Heavyweight Explosion", World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) held a spectacular tournament that produced, Brandon Vera, a star of the future. The evening's action also showcased rising prospect Jorge "Van Damme" Oliveira (Chute Boxe USA/Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu) who, in an aggressive pro debut, defeated "Mr. International" Shonie Carter.

The show also featured the WEC newest addition: supreme ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. As always the WEC commentating team includes the world class combination of "The Fight Professor", Stephen Quadros (PRIDE, K-1, Cage Rage) doing color commentary with Jeff Blatnick (Olympic wrestling gold medalist, UFC), along with Ryan Bennett (MMA Weekly, ROTR, UFC) doing the play-by-play.

The event was broadcast LIVE on Mark Cuban's HDNet.

Quadros Commentates On WEC Again

[29 Oct 2004] — Palace Indian Gaming Casino, Lemoore, CA. “World Extreme Cagefighting: Halloween Fury III" is in the books. Not surprisingly, the show was sold out a week prior to the event, and in the tradition of WEC events of the past provided a strong showing of mixed martial arts (MMA) veterans and emerging talent.

Featured on the HDNet broadcast that airs tonight in high definition will be the long overdue meeting between UFC hotshot Chris "Lights Out" Lytle and Oregon's J.T. Taylor.  Lots of pre-fight trash talk made for an exciting match where these warriors could finally settle the score.  Also included in this live to tape event will be UFC Veteran Mark Weir (England) and WEC's own wild child Olaf Alfonso testing the jiu jitsu skills of Gabe Ruediger to a very surprising and heart stopping finish.

The commentating team includes the world class combination of "The Fight Professor", Stephen Quadros, who has called the action with major fight programs around the world like PRIDE, K-1, Inoki Bom Ba Ye, Too Hot To Handle, etc., along with Ryan Bennett (MMA Weekly, UFC) doing play-by-play and ace color commentator Jeff Blatnick, an Olympic gold medalist in Greco Roman wrestling who was a mainstay with the SEG era UFC.

[16 Jan 2004] — Lemoore, CA, World Extreme Cagefighting: Cold Blooded. Stephen Quadros had the good fortune to be asked to sit in with the broadcast team of Ryan Bennett and Jeff Blatnick for some of the action for WEC 9: "Cold Blooded".

Stephen recalls, "It was an honor to work with those guys. We all had fun. Ryan is really sharp and Jeff, to me, is a legend of the sport. I helped out on one fight, the war between veteran Alex Stiebling and Joe "Diesel" Riggs. WEC exploded that night!"

[28 Aug 2002] — Japan National Stadium With over 91,000 in attendence K-1 & PRIDE Fighting Championships hit a home run with "Shockwave", their first ever joint promotion.

Bouts featured (then) PRIDE FC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira, 4-Time K-1 champion Ernesto Hoost, Pride FC middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva, Japanese superstar Kazushi Sakuraba, 3-Time UFC champion Royce Gracie, Bob Sapp, 2-Time UFC champion Don Frye, 3-Time King of Pancrase Semmy Schilt, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and many more. K-1 chairman Kazuyoshi Ishii, Jiu Jitsu icon Helio Gracie and the man who fought Muhammed Ali, Japan's most enduring pro wrestler, Antonio Inoki were all on hand to participate in the extravaganza. Joining the pay per view broadcast team of Stephen Quadros and Bas Rutten was none other than Bill Goldberg, one of America's best known pro wrestlers.
